KHAMMAM: The Bhadrachalam police unearthed five landmines planted by naxalites of the CPI(Maoist) in the forest routes of the division on Friday. Three land mines were found on Lakshmipuram-Maraigudem road, one of the forest routes connecting the Konta division of Chhattisgarh with Bhadrachalam. The landmines each weighed 25 kg. Bhadrachalam Circle Inspector Ashok Kumar said the mines were meant to target the police patrol parties and elected representatives who had campaigned in the agencies during the Panchayat Raj polls.
