RTC union to hold demonstrations

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The RTC employees union has resolved to organise demonstrations in front of all bus depots on July 25 and 26 demanding pay revision and protesting the Government's decision to restructure the corporation.

Union president N. A. Khan and general secretary K. Padmakar at a press conference here on Friday alleged that the Government was adopting a `step-motherly' attitude towards the corporation. This was evident from the fact that the Government that announced 16 per cent hike in the salary for the electricity employees had only 5 per cent hike for the RTC staff.

He said the union was firm that 20 per cent hike should be implemented with effect from April last year. The union would undertake a signature campaign during the two days when a demonstration would be staged. They would also submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and Transport Minister.
