Bindu Shajan Perappadan

NEW DELHI: If it has been a while since you last turned to television serials looking for some laughs, the new comedies lined up on SAB Monday through Friday promise to make you forget your stress-full day out in office.

Bringing a full 30 minutes of non-stop laughs on SAB from this coming Monday at 8-30 p.m. are new shows -- "Ji Behenji", "Party", "Ishq Ki Ghanti" and "F.I.R" -- in addition to a brand new season of hit comedy serial "Yes Boss".

Speaking at the launch of Comedy Band "Poore Batees Chahiye" on Friday, SAB senior vice-president and business head Vikas Bahl said: "SAB has a strong equity in the comedy space and with the launch of four new comedy shows we are making efforts to strengthen the positing of our channel and funnel viewer-ship for the 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. band.''

Added programming head Priya Mishra: "We want people to come to SAB to laugh without laughter tracks in the background. You will not find spoof or slapstick comedies here. These are new-age comedies with differential treatment. Realistic and substantial, these sitcoms will be more situational and closer to life.''

The series of programme come with the guarantee to deliver some serious laughs as it rolls out the comedy band every night of the week. Even the least likely to laugh candidate will find at least one character to show them the lighter side of living.

"The series traces the lives and events of an entire gamut of relationships and people from a `saas-bahu' duo to a madcap businessman with a heart of gold to a troublesome trio of disgruntled men to a chaotic `chowky', and let's not forget the man whose wife is his boss, there's surely lots to pick from every week night Monday through Friday,'' pointed out Priya.
