ANANTAPUR: .Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Rajya Sabha Member C. Ramachandraiah visited the properties of TDP minority leaders at Tadipatri allegedly attacked by Congress supporters on Wednesday night and said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's repeated statements that the Government was committed to stamp out factionalism would hold ground only if he removed leaders like J.C. Diwakar Reddy from the Cabinet. He alleged that Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy was perpetuating faction feuds for his selfish political ends and was using his post as a shield for his unlawful activities. Peace could be restored in the district only by removing Mr. Diwakar Reddy from the Ministry, he felt. Stating that the police in Tadipatri were not even ready to accept a complaint from TDP leaders on the attacks on their properties for more than two hours, Mr. Ramachandraiah said it amply explained Mr. Diwakar Reddy's sway over the police. The police were taking his permission even to accept complaints on attacks, he charged. In all, 38 TDP workers and leaders were killed by Congressmen after the party assumed power he said, adding that a situation was not there in any other district. He warned that the TDP would take up protests in Tadipatri if the attacks on them continued. Meanwhile, targeting of TDP supporters and their properties allegedly by Congressmen continued in the district on Friday as about 1,000 banana plants and 400 sweet lime plants of TDP supporters were mowed down at Ranginepalli in Putlur mandal and some 100 sweet lime plants of another TDP supporter at Peddamallepalli in Yellanur mandal for supporting TDP candidates contesting the sarpanch elections.
