Two houses burgled near Davangere

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: Burglars allegedly broke into an isolated house on the banks of the Bhadra channel near Kurki village in Hadadi police station limits and took away Rs.11,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs.12,000 on Thursday night.

Superintendent of police Davangere district Sonia Narang said that the burglars forcibly entered the house of Keshava Bahadur, a former security person at the channel office.

They asked the family to handover the valuables and cash to them.

As Bahadur and his family obliged the burglars, they did not harm anyone.

In another incident, jewellery worth Rs.1.5 lakh was stolen from a police constable's house in Bhagath Singh Nagar in Davangere on Wednesday.

The police said that the thieves broke open the front door and gained entry into the house and took away the jewellery.

However, the senior police officials who visited the spot expressed suspicion about the way in which the door was broken and the ornaments taken away without disturbing the articles in the house.
