VISAKHAPATNAM: Endoscopic spine surgery is being introduced in the local Lazarus Hospital, in association with the Kamineni Hospitals (Hyderabad), for treatment of spinal disorders. By using special scopes, instruments and implants, the spine surgeons would treat disorders like degenerative discs, certain spinal column tumors, infections, fractures and slipped discs. Since the incision was small the post-operative surgery period would be drastically reduced resulting in less hospital stay and expenses.
Interactive session
The patient would experience less pain and the damage to healthy tissue would be minimal. The details of endoscopic spine surgery were given by the consultant neruo surgeon of the Kamineni Hospitals (Hyderabad), Subodh Raj, neuro surgeon of Lazarus Hospital K. Satish and medical superintendent of the hospital Adams at a press conference here on Friday. However, not all disorders and diseases could be treated through endoscopic surgery. An experienced and knowledgeable surgeon would decide if a patient could undergo endoscopic surgery to the surrounding healthy tissues would be minimal. The hospital organised a free interactive and advice session on spinal problems on Friday.
