Gold worth Rs. 2 lakhs stolen

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Thieves took away gold ornaments worth Rs. 2 lakhs after sneaking into a house through the unbolted backdoor at Gouthaminagar in Chandanagar on Thursday night.

While the house owner Raj Kumar, 35, who runs a clothes store, was away in Mumbai, his wife Radhika and her sister Aruna slept in the bedroom. The theft came to light on Friday morning when the two women saw the almirah doors open.

"The almirah was locked and keys were kept in a plastic box beside it, making the job of the offenders easy," Chandanagar Inspector M. Madhusudhan Reddy said. The house was located some 500 yards from Chandanagar police station.
