BANGALORE: Four persons assaulted a conductor of a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus and tried to snatch his cash bag at Premnagar on Thursday night. The conductor with the help of the driver and some passengers caught one of the accused. According to the police, the bus was going to Premnagar for the night halt. Four persons signalled the driver to stop the bus near Tirumala Palace.
When the driver stopped the bus, the four persons hurled stones at the vehicle and entered the bus. They hit Ramesh, the conductor, and tried to snatch the cash bag. Ramesh should for help, and when the bus driver and the passengers rushed to his aid, the miscreants ran away. However, they were given a chase and Chandra (25), one of the accused, was caught. The Basaveshwaranagar police have registered a case.
Nurse ends life
A 22-year-old nurse, said to have been disheartened following the death of her two-year-old daughter, committed suicide at her house in Commercial Street police station limits on Saturday. According to the police, Shyamala, who works at Ghousia Hospital, was dejected after the death of her child at Victoria Hospital on Saturday afternoon. Her daughter had suffered burns after she fell into a tub filled with hot water.
After the child was pronounced dead, Shyamala returned to her quarters and hanged herself, the police said.
