"Minister Khadi" is on sale at a discount

PONDICHERRY: "Minister Khadi"? Yes it is one of the varieties worn mostly by Ministers and MLAs. The material is priced at Rs. 104 a metre and is available at the renovated Pondicherry Khadi and Village Industries Board showroom on Kamaraj Salai in New Saram.

The showroom was inaugurated by Industries Minister V Vaithialingam. Viswanathan, MLA was present. The showroom offers a discount of 20 per cent on products and from August 1 to 15 it will offer 40 per cent discount.

The "Minister khadi" is made of special muslin with 100 count yarn. The showroom also has regular khadi cloth priced at Rs. 35 a metre and Rs. 60 a metre. The showroom has a separate section for silk saris made in their own weaving centres at Vaithikuppam, Karaikal and Kuchipalayam. Saris are priced from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 10000.
