Mumbai: Ashish Nehra, who is playing in one of the minor county circuits in England, won't attend the fitness camp for the 15-member Sri Lanka-bound Indian team in Bangalore from July 25 to August 1. "We thought it's better for him to keep playing matches in England," said National selection committee chairman Kiran More here on Saturday. Initially the selectors did not want Dinesh Mongia too to attend the camp, but have now asked him to report on July 25. Others who have been asked to report are V.V.S. Laxman, Dinesh Karthik, L. Balaji, Murali Kartik, Robin Uthappa, V.R.V. Singh and Wasim Jaffer. Reacting to Kolkata Police Commissioner Prasun Mukherjee's comments that Sourav Ganguly was dropped from the Indian team for non-cricketing reasons, Kiran More said: "Lot of things are happening there. I don't want to comment. As selectors, we pick the best team. I agree with Ajit Wadekar's horses-for-courses policy in selection matters. Ganguly has served Indian cricket, and is still playing. Any player can perform and come back. Anil Kumble is 36 and playing international cricket with distinction."
