Minister: all help to Lebanon evacuees

CHENNAI: The Centre will do its best to ensure the safe return of Indians from Lebanon. It is a continuous process and the Government will arrange chartered flights in consultation with the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, Vayalar Ravi, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, said.

The Minister, who flew down to Chennai to oversee the Air India chartered flight that brought 342 Indian evacuees from the Cyprus town of Larnaca, said all-out efforts would be made to ensure the safety of Indians in other countries.

Chennai Airport Director Dinesh Kumar said that apart from the 342 Indian evacuees, who landed safely on Friday night, another group of 130 Indians was ferried by Indian as domestic passengers as they had cleared customs formalities at the Mumbai airport.
