Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government on Saturday urged the Kerala Government to change its stand and honour the Supreme Court verdict on the Mullaperiyar dam issue. Presenting the Budget for the year 2006-07, Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan said taking into account the interests of the farmers of southern districts, the Kerala Government should change its stand and come forward to honour the apex court verdict. He regretted that the Kerala Government had enacted a legislation which was not in consonance with the Supreme Court order, directing Kerala to raise the height of the dam. Since Kerala had enacted a legislation, Tamil Nadu had no other alternative but to approach the Supreme Court to protect the State's rights, he added. - UNI
