COIMBATORE: Sylvester K.C. Toroitich is a Kenyan with an MBA from the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), and stays in Karaikudi.

One of the thousands

He was in Coimbatore on Sunday as one of the thousands of candidates who had come to The Hindu Opportunities Fair 2006 on the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex.

He had done his B.Com at Shivaji University (Maharashtra) and MBA at MKU. With plans to settle down in India, the 36-year-old Kenyan is now looking for employment opportunities.

"Most people are not aware that they can employ foreigners," he says. Also, he wants to find a company that is located in a city and where language will not be a problem.

For him, the fair was an opportunity to know about different companies, and he submitted his resume at the stalls of two companies.

People of diverse backgrounds and different places had come to the two-day fair that concluded here on Sunday.

It was not just trained candidates and freshers. Many working couples came looking for job opportunities.

Also present were students and professors and also placement officers from a couple of colleges.

Some companies had students, who would complete their course only next year, enquiring about job opportunities.

And, some Information Technology majors had placement officers of colleges visiting their stalls - to either invite the companies to the institutions for placement or just get a feel of the fair.
