Letters to the Editor
Pervez Musharraf's offer of help to India in tracking down the terrorists of the Mumbai blasts if given proof of their Pakistani links is interesting. Does he indeed want us to believe that he is ignorant of the terror network in his country? Let not India fall into his trap and dish out all our information.
J.V. Reddy,
President Musharraf's offer to cooperate with India stands exposed with the refusal to hand over Dawood Ibrahim and Syed Salahuddin, chief of Hizbul Mujahideen, both on the list of 20 terrorists New Delhi has submitted to Islamabad for extradition. His offer seems to have been made solely for Western consumption, to turn the spotlight away from Pakistan.
Ajay Sachdev,
Ashok Viswanath,
The reports of fears over possible infiltration of LeT operatives in the Air Force are indeed frightening and disturbing. One hopes the Defence Ministry scanned its recruitment lists thoroughly before denying the reports.
Our armed forces should be guarded against any possible infiltration by strengthening the military intelligence network. To quote the former Israeli Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion: "Intelligence constitutes the first line of defence ... we must learn well how to recognise what is going on around us."
Vipin Kumar Nambiar,
While the whole nation is grappling with increasing terrorism, some mindless persons seem to be having fun. They send false emails in the name of terror groups and make calls warning of bomb blasts, which turn out to be a hoax. While one does not expect such insane and insensitive elements to cooperate with the police or help the victims, the least they can do is stop making hoax calls and wasting others' time.
Shashi Bhushan Arya,
