NEW DELHI: Abhijit Kunte drew with fellow Grandmaster Canada's Mark Bluveshtein to be part of a six-player pack at six points behind leader Walter Arencible (6.5) after the eighth round of the Canadian Open chess tournament at Kitchener on Saturday. The 69-move battle in Sicilian Defence ended when Kunte saw no way of making the most of his lone pawn on the board. At that stage, the players had a queen each. Facing much less rated Canadian rivals, International Masters Chandrashekhar Gokhale and Rahul Shetty (5 each) drew but Woman Grandmaster Swati Ghate (4) lost. Gokhale, playing white, drew with Lucas Davies. Shetty held on with black against Jonathan Tayal while Swati lost with black pieces to Michael Barron.
