Islamabad: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has expressed "regret" over India not accepting Pakistan's offer to assist in the investigations into the Mumbai serial blasts if evidence was forwarded to it. General Musharraf, during a meeting on Saturday with the outgoing Prime Minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Sikander Hayat, said he "regretted India's decision to turn down Pakistan's offer to assist in the investigation into the Mumbai blasts," an online news agency reported on Sunday. The President, in his address to the nation on July 20, said Pakistan would conduct serious investigations if India forwarded any evidence. In its reaction, India asked Pakistan to deport don Dawood Ibrahim and chief of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit Syed Salahuddin. Gen. Musharraf said Pakistan wants to continue dialogue with India to settle all contentious issues but the decision to put off the Foreign Secretary-level talks by India would "only encourage extremists."
