TIRUPATI: Former Minister and Puttur MLA G. Muddukrishnama Naidu (Congress) has led a delegation from Puttur, Nagari and Sathyavedu constituencies to the General Manager of the Southern Railway to seek details for the delay in sorting out the problems of the commuters between Ponpadi and Poodi railway stations in Andhra Pradesh, which come under the purview of the Chennai-based Southern Railways. Mr. Naidu in a representation submitted to the General Manager recently has set a deadline of 90 days for the authorities to address all their problems or else face yet another massive rail roko agitation, as in July, 2003, which disrupted rail traffic out of gear for seven hours on Chennai-Renigunta section. He also recalled the specific commitments given by the officials of the Southern Railways at that time while pursuing the agitators to end the agitation. Mr. Naidu regretted that though three years have passed, not even a single problem listed in their 15-point charter of demands was solved.
Interlocking facility
The list of demands submitted by him include interlocking and construction of a road under-bridge (RUB) at the level-crossing No:57 in Puttur, providing lifting barriers, repairs to the bad-roads at all the level-crossings in the section, RUB at Dharmarajaswamyu temple in Puttur, 2 more singles by EMU beteen Renigunta Arakkonam, UTS reservation station at Puttur, halting of certain trains at Puttur, berth facilities, etc.
