BELGAUM: Love and mutual faith are the keys to a healthy and happy family life and go a long way in strengthening a marriage, speakers at the inaugural function of the Lok Adalat for Women said here on Sunday. The programme was organised under the joint auspices of the National Commission for Women, Belgaum district Legal Services Authority, and the Women's Welfare Society of Shahpur. P.V. Singri, second Additional District and Sessions Judge and Judge, Family Court, Belgaum, who inaugurated the programme, called upon people to strive to maintain harmonious relationships with family members and not allow petty differences to snowball into major disputes that end up in law courts. Courts should be the last resort for all disputes, he said and added that there were several other options such as counselling, which could go a long way in resolving disputes and minimising the number of cases in courts. He said counsellors had a great role to play as they could bring both parties across the table to help them sort out their differences. They have to be neutral and win the confidence of litigants as only then can they resolve disputes effectively.
