BANGALORE: People selected to Indian Administrative Service and KAS must think of their work as a service and not merely as a job that earns them a livelihood, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways K.H. Muniyappa said here on Sunday. Speaking at a function to felicitate the successful candidates trained by the JSS Institute for Training in Competitive Examinations, Mr. Muniyappa said the 13 IAS and 21 KAS recruits must try to emulate Mahatma Gandhi and work in such a manner that they promoted national integration, and helped people access services better. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, whose speech was read out by Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti, also urged the candidates to put people first in their work, and remember that they were the eyes and ears of the Government. "My guidance is always there and you can come to me any time. I am happy that you have all been selected from the Karnataka cadre," he said. Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha K. Rahman Khan and Suttur Math seer Desikendra Swamiji were present.
