Pradeep bounces back to win dirt track event

CHENNAI: H.K. Pradeep of Bangalore slipped and survived two collisions but still summoned the courage to win the Indian Expert Championship Group A (race 2) event, in the second round of the Gulf Dirt Track National Championship, at St. George's HSS, on Sunday. He also prevailed in the 250cc Group B 2&4 strokes (race 2) event.

With these wins, Pradeep garnered 37 points which now puts him in the overall championship lead, with a tally of 71 points.

Karan Kadam of Bangalore shot into the championship lead in the Group A 2&4-stroke motorcycle (foreign) category, after collecting 30 points. He now has a total of 63 points.

Rustom Patel put up a splendid performance to prevail in the Private Expert Championship motorcycles 80cc-150cc Group B (race 1), foreign motorcycle upto 250cc Group A (race 1, 2) events. K.P. Arvind won the Novice Championship upto 125cc and the 80 cc-150cc events.

Earlier, additional police commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore flagged off the event while Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd. vice-president Varadarajan gave away the prizes.
