NEW DELHI: Manav Media Foundation, a charitable organisation devoted to promoting healthy life-style and spiritual living, on Saturday launched a magazine "Sattva" at a simple ceremony here. Medical doctors, nutritionists and eminent academicians and bureaucrats attended the launch ceremony. Sattva, a bimonthly, carries articles on spirituality, right living, health, education, fashion and self-improvement through right motivation. "It has something for the young and the old as well as children," says its editor Ms. Kalpana Singh. Asked why a Sanskrit name for an English language magazine, she said: "Sattva is the tranquil and pure state of the mind, while Rajas is symbolic of aggression and restlessness and Tamas the inactive and foolish state of mind. A person's behaviour is guided by the predominance of one over the other Gunas. The ancient teachings guide us how to overcome Rajas and Tamas by Sattva. This magazine will strive to promote the properties of Sattva through its editorials and articles." The promoters of Manav Media Foundation run Manav Ashray that provides inexpensive accommodation to seriously ill patients who come for treatment at Delhi's various hospitals.
