Prepare yourselves for industry needs, students told

Business Line Club lecture series began at MOP Vaishnav College

CHENNAI: "Examination marks are important, but what is more important is the ability to adapt, to convert what you have learned in the classroom to industry's requirement for success at work," D.P. Padmanabhan, Managing Director, Eurocon tiles, Chennai, said. He was inaugurating the Business Line Club lecture series for 2006-07 at the MOP Vaishnav College for Women on Thursday. He also installed the office-bearers of the Club.

He said that students lacked industrial exposure. "If you are not aware of what is happening, you will be swept aside," he added. Congratulating the principal and the faculty on forming the club and making the initiative part of the syllabus, Mr. Padmanabhan said the newspaper would prepare students to meet industry needs. Principal K. Nirmala Prasad said the review of Business Line articles, which was made part of internal evaluation, helped the students keep in touch with the global developments. Ranjani Natarajan, president-elect of the club, said: "Reading enforces a certain discipline on our thought process. Reading the newspaper is a daily task that we must constantly strive to make time for."

The other members of the club are K.C. Archana, Monica Bhander, R. Vidhya, Divya Nair, C. Prarthana, N. Aruna and R. Gayathri. N. Krishnan, Regional General Manager (Circulation), The Hindu , S. Sridhar, Assistant Regional General Manager, and P. Haridas, college secretary, attended.
