Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Five persons, including an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a Somalian, have been killed in separate road accidents in the city and suburbs since Saturday.

The ASI and a lorry driver died and three others were injured after the lorry they were travelling in collided with a tipper at Nagaram near Keesara on Sunday. ASI Mohammed Mehamood Ali (58) of Bomalaramaram police station in Nalgonda, was coming to the city to attend a case in High Court on Monday. The tipper driver lost control while negotiating a curve and crashed into the lorry. Mehamood Ali and lorry driver Vilas Gaikwad died instantly. The injured -- Bheem Rao, Kapil Gaikwad and Rahul -- were admitted to Gandhi Hospital where their condition was said to be stable.

In another accident, a Somalia national Mohammed Abedi (22) and his friend Mohammed Kamrududdin (35) were killed after their motorbike skid on the Humayunnagar road on Saturday. Passers-by shifted Abedi and Kamrududdin of Jahanuma to Osmania General Hospital where they died while undergoing treatment, the police said.

At Ghatkesar on Sunday, E. Venkat Reddy (70) was crushed under the wheels of a lorry while crossing the road near his house at Ghanpur crossroads.
