Poor condition of KSTC bus stand

The condition of the KSRTC bus stand at Thampanoor is in bad shape. Loose metal and potholes all over the bus stand cause untold hardships to commuters. During rainy season, it gets flooded with filthy water.

As there is no proper drainage system, waterlogging is also very common.

There are huge potholes at the entry and exit points to the stand. Though they were repaired after much public outcry, metal started to come off one week after repairs.

Hope authorities will look into the matter.

`Consumer at the receiving end'

It is said that the supply line from the "main" to the meter on the consumer's premises belongs to the Kerala Water Authority (KWA), as in the case of power connections.

However, unlike the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), whenever there is a problem with the supply line, the KWA makes the consumer pay for all expenses to rectify the fault and also other expenses like road cutting. And the PWD authorities who charge considerably for road cutting want the consumer to repair the cutting by concreting.

Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran has said that he intends to revamp the functioning of the Kerala Water Authority soon. Hope he will address the matter.

Pedestrians need consideration

Press Road, from the General Post Office Junction to the Government Press, is very narrow. Vehicles parked on this road occupy half of it.

As there is no footpath, pedestrians are put to much hardship on this stretch.

Parking facilities should be provide at nearby places to ease congestion on this road.

Waiting shed needed

The main bus stop at Statue Junction lacks a waiting shed. When it rains, passengers are forced to run for shelter in front of shop verandas on the other side of the road. There is also no fixed stop for the buses towards East Fort.

This has caused accidents as passengers are forced to run after buses. A proper bus stop should be marked and a waiting shed built to solve the problems of passengers.
