IMA welcomes directive on banned drugs

KOCHI: The State branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has welcomed the Kerala High Court directive to the Central Drugs Controller to inquire about the availability of banned drugs in the market. In a press release, IMA State secretary R. Ramesh urged the Government to strengthen its machinery to ensure that banned and sub-standard drugs were taken off the shelves. He said it was the responsibility of the Central and State drugs controllers to ensure that only quality drugs were available in the market. — Staff Reporter

Institute to remain closed today

KOCHI: The School of Communication and Management Studies, Muttom, will remain closed on Monday to mourn the death of Nanditha Narendran, a management student of the institution. The SCMS Engineering College, Karukutty, will function as usual. — Staff Reporter

Suggestions on law reforms to be submitted

KOCHI: The Peoples Council for Protection of Civil Rights will submit to the High Court suggestions to reform outdated laws and procedures being followed in courts. In a press release, council president Mathew Paul said ordinary people were caught in complex legal procedures and laws and the `non-cooperation' of some officials. — Staff Reporter
