Sreesanth's success mantra

"Three D's in life, dedication, determination and discipline, are crucial for success. Of these, I value personal discipline the most," said the cricketer S. Sreesanth on a visit to the Choice School, Kochi, a few days ago.

Sreesanth, who was requested to interact with students at the school assembly, was answering a question about the value he cherished most.

To another question about his take on change in captaincy of the Indian team, he spoke of how much he valued each team member, especially senior members of the squad.

Captains of school houses and sports groups had a special interaction with their hero. When the little ones asked him how best to bowl, Sreesanth patiently demonstrated his skills. He thanked his parents and siblings for helping him find a place in India's cricket team. School principal Molly Cyril presided over the function.

Geet Lehar

Gregorian Public School, Maradu, organised Geet Lehar 2006, an inter-school music festival, on its premises on Saturday.

The chief guest Jayasurya, actor, who stole the show, was at his jovial best.

Apart from mimicking co-actors, he also walked into the audience, sang songs (including one in Tamil), danced and interacted with the audience.

He spoke about the necessity of teaching music to students.

Eighteen schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education from the city and its suburbs participated in the music festival. Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, won the Leah Koshy Memorial Overall Trophy.

The Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, was the runner-up.

Bishop of the Cochin and Angamaly dioceses of the Syrian Jacobite Church Joseph Mor Gregorious Metropolitan, who is the school manager, gave away the prizes.

School principal K.V. Paulose said that interacting with an affable cine actor was an entirely new experience for students.

Green club

The environment club of Toc-H Public School, Vytilla, was inaugurated by C.N. Pradeep, Director (Finance and Administration) of the Vegetable and Fruits Promotion Council, Keralam.

He spoke of the importance of a clean and green environment.

He, along with school president P.J. Joseph and manager K. Varghese, planted saplings on the campus to mark the beginning of this year's activities of the club.

World Cup quiz

Amith Sunil and Varun D. of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, emerged winners of the FIFA World Cup quiz held at MES School, Udyogamandal. Both of them are Class 12 students.

As many as 110 students participated in the quiz.
