KOLLAM: The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is introducing an amnesty scheme for withdrawal of criminal cases against insured persons filed under Sections 84 and 85 of the ESI Act. ESIC Joint Director R. Ramakrishnan said here on Monday that withdrawal of the cases would be subject to certain prescribed conditions. He said withdrawal of cases filed under Section 84 against insured persons for claiming and receiving cash benefits submitting false declarations would be considered subject to permission from court if the amount received was refunded in full and a declaration to the effect that the offence would not be repeated. Mr. Ramakrishnan said cases filed under Section 85 for offence of non-payment of contributions, non-submission of returns, non-registration of employees and non-production of records for inspection for the period up to September 30, 2005 would be considered for withdrawal if the entire dues till date, including interest and damages were paid and other provisions of the Act were complied with and a declaration was submitted to the effect that compliance would be effected in time in future. The scheme would be in force from August 1, 2006 to October 31, 2007. Details can be had from the ESIC Divisional Office, Polayathodu, Kollam or on phone 0474-2761190.
