TUMKUR: Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said here on Monday that the Bhadra project would be completed in three years. Launching the work on the renovation of Mydala tank on the outskirts of Tumkur, Mr. Kumaraswamy admitted that some leaders from Shimoga and Chikmagalur districts had expressed reservations after the K.C. Reddy Committee gave its report on the feasibility of the project. "I will convene a meeting of political leaders from these districts and convince them of the need to implement the Bhadra project for the benefit of the people of Tumkur, Kolar and Chitradurga districts. I will also tell them that the project will in not affect their interests," he said. Stating that the project was estimated to cost about Rs. 4,500 crore, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he would ensure that the project was completed in three years. He said the reports of farmers committing suicide had saddened him. "I have decided to spend three days in a week in the villages with the farmers," he said. He said he was ready to take up the challenge thrown by the Congress at him. He told presspersons that the Congress leaders wanted to harm his public image by levelling corruption charges against him.
