Handicraft and handloom fair

Pondicherry: The 15-day exhibition cum sales of handicraft and handlooms of Gujarat, which would come to a close on July 29 at the S S Thirumana Nilayam in Pondicherry, makes available different varieties of products for the patrons. T.V. Kanthilal, the manager of the Chennai based Gujarat Emporium, which is conducting the fair said in a release on Friday that the Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts and Industries Cooperative Federation Limited (an apex body) had been popularising the products and crafts since its formation in 1964 through a network of emporia. The federation has opened emporia in several parts of the country such as Varnasi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Madurai, Ernakulam and Gujarat. Holding of the exhibitions at various centres was aimed at establishing a rapport between the artisans and the patrons of the crafts. The exhibition is held under the banner `GUSICA'.
