Trieste award for mathematician

CHENNAI: The Director of Chennai Mathematical Institute, C.S. Seshadri, has been selected for the Trieste Science award for mathematics in recognition of his work in algebraic geometry.

He is the the first Indian mathematician to receive this award. It consists of a cash prize of $ 50,000 and a citation. The award will be presented at the 10th general conference of the Academy for the Developing World in Brazil in September.
