TIRUNELVELI : A total of 26 persons, who escaped from the Israeli shells landing at Lebanon after tension escalated around it, reached their native place, Lakkampatti near Vilathikulam in Tuticorin district on Saturday. People who reached their village were R. Ramalingam, S. Gopal, M. Seemaisamy, S. Kottaisamy, S. Kalyani, A. Vellaisamy, N. Kannan, V. Shanmugaraj, K. Marimuthu, S. Balamurugan, M. Petchiyammal, M. Govindan, D. Rajagopal, R. Gopal, M. Sundararaj, S. Dharmar, R. Lakshmanan, I. Govindaraj, P. Dhandayudam, S. Shanmugaraj, V. Shanmugaraj, D. Marimuthu, K. Ramakrishnan, P. Veeman, E. Umayanan and A. Mookkandi. They were working with A.W.M. Company at Sukleen Camp and Karanthina Camp in Lebanon. After being evacuated from the war-torn Lebanon by the Indian Government, they were shipped to Cyprus and then airlifted in a special aircraft to reach Chennai, from where they were taken in a special bus to reach Lakkampatti. Assuming that the villagers would be directly coming to the Collectorate to meet the Collector, R. Palaniyandi, special arrangements were made in Tuticorin to receive them.
