PALAKKAD: The body of Parameswaran, 26, of Mariyampadam House near Mangalam dam, who died in police custody on Sunday, was cremated after the post mortem examination conducted at Thrissur Medical College on Monday. The youth, who was arrested in a theft case on Sunday, collapsed in police custody while he was taken for recovery of the stolen money and the spot where the incident took place. Meanwhile, District Congress Committee president V.S. Vijayaraghavan, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Executive Committee members K.A. Chandran and V.C. Kabeer in a joint statement here on Monday demanded the Government to order a judicial inquiry into the death of the youth in police custody. They said that the Congress will organise a protest meeting at Vadakkumcherry on Tuesday demanding judicial inquiry and action against the guilty police officials of Mangalam dam station. Meanwhile, District Superintendent of Police Sparjan Kumar has submitted the inquiry report on the incident to Deputy General of Police (DIG), Thrissur, B. Sandhya on Monday.
