Government should resign, says CPI(M)

Staff Correspondent

Madikeri: Activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday staged a dharna in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner at the Fort here, demanding the resignation of the coalition Government in the State in the wake of bribery charges against the Chief Minister and some of his Cabinet colleagues.

District secretary of the CPI(M) Peter Lobo alleged that the Chief Minister and Forest Minister Chennigappa, accused of bribery charges, had failed to prove that they were not involved in the mining scam.

The people have the right to know facts about the charges made by BJP MLC, Janardhana Reddy, he said.

The Government had no moral right to continue in office, he said.

Later, they presented a memorandum to the Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner K.N. Ningappa.
