Chief Minister asks for speedy implementation of "Indira Prabha"

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday asked the officials to expedite the implementation of `Indira Prabha', a comprehensive land development programme.

At a review of the programme with officials, Dr. Reddy made it clear that funds should not be a constraint for its implementation as the programme was meant for the below poverty line families. Under the programme, 3.94 lakh acres of land that has been held by 2.72 lakh beneficiaries would be developed by levelling and sinking bore wells, according to a press release. Dr. Reddy recalled that Rs. 500 crores was earmarked for development of the assigned lands and of thisabout Rs. 200 crores was sanctioned under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)'s Rural Infrstructure Development Fund (RIDF)- IX. The remaining requirement had been proposed for the RIDF- X. Principal Secretary (Rural Development) K. Raju, Commissioner (Rural Development) Narsinga Rao ttended.
