NEW DELHI: It was yet another day of futile combing operations for the Delhi police with three calls claiming that bombs had been planted at India Gate, Chandni Chowk and Income Tax Office building at ITO in the Capital on Monday. All three were found to be a hoax. The police received the first call around noon with the caller claiming that a bomb would explode at India Gate. Although adequate security arrangements are in place there and Army personnel have been deployed, the police searched the entire area taking no chances. Bomb detection and disposal squads were pressed into service, but they did not find any explosive. In the second case, the police received a call around 12-15 p.m. in which the caller claimed that a bomb had been planted in Chandni Chowk. The police carried out a search but did not find any bomb. Subsequently, the call was declared a hoax. The third call was received around 1-15 p.m., in which the caller claimed that a bomb had been planted at the Income Tax building. As the security of the premises is with the Central Industrial Security Force, its personnel got the entire building vacated and conducted a search along with the police. Again, no explosives were found. The police have launched a hunt for the hoax callers. In the past few days, the police have received several hoax calls and arrested at least three persons.
