CPI(M) plea to dismiss Government

Special Correspondent

`Kumaraswamy and Chennigappa should resign in the wake of the bribery charge'

MYSORE: Communist Party of India (Marxist) has sought the dismissal of the Government on the grounds of "unbridled corruption."

Referring to the bribery charge made by MLA Janaradhan Reddy, the CPI (M) Mysore District Committee said that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy or the Forest Minister Chennigappa had not been able to prove their innocence and hence should tender their resignations immediately.

The BJP's support to the Janata Dal (Secular) exposed the true face of the former.

It had openly endorsed corruption by suspending Mr. Janardhan Reddy alleged that the mining lobby had bribed the Chief Minister to the tune of Rs. 150 crore.

"Such an unholy alliance of two political parties that is thoroughly corrupt cannot be expected to give good administration," the CPI (M) said. It urged the Governor to dismiss the Government.

CPI (M) general secretary N.S. Prabhakar said the coalition partners were out to prepare for the elections. They were engaged in filling up the coffers and this was the reason for the rampant corruption.

The inquiry committee set up to look into the corruption charges should be headed by a sitting High Court judge.

The Government should immediately ban private companies from quarrying and mining, it said.
