Spice Telecom to double cell sites

LUDHIANA: Spice Telecom, the flagship company of MCorp Global, is going to double its cell sites in Punjab to support the increasing subscriber base in the State.

"At present we have 800 cell sites across the State and we will double this strength in the current fiscal," Spice Telecom, AVP (Marketing) Mukul Khanna said here on Monday.

With focus on 75 towns in the State, including urban and rural areas, the company that offers cellular services in Punjab and Karnataka expects a 40 per cent growth in its subscriber base this fiscal.

``We are expecting a growth of 40 per cent in our customer base, which currently stands at over 15 lakh. To achieve this growth, we will focus on urban as well as rural areas in the State," Mr. Khanna said.

Mobile penetration in the state is at around 16-17 per cent and the subscriber strength is about 55 lakh, which grows at 40 per cent per annum, he added.

Besides improving the infrastructure, the company is also introducing new value-added services to attract more customers. -- PTI
