800 Indians flown from Cyprus

New Delhi: Eight hundred Indians, evacuated from Lebanon, were on Monday airlifted back home from Cyprus, raising to 1,442 the number of people pulled out from there in two ferries.

Two Air India planes brought 400 people each to Chennai and Delhi, marking the completion of the second evacuation in four days, the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs said.

These people were airlifted from Larnaca in Cyprus, where they were brought from Beirut by warships INS Mumbai and INS Brahmaputra in the early hours of the day.

On Friday last, 602 Indians were brought home by two Air India planes.
