KOCHI: The Cochin International Airport Staff Association (INTUC) on Monday said the Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) was facing an administrative stalemate, as the new managing director had not yet assumed office even though the LDF Government was completing two months in office. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, association president P.J. Joy and general secretary M.O. John said the development activities in the airport had come to a standstill as a result of the administrative stalemate. They demanded that the Government should take immediate steps to solve the crisis. The Government should take steps to take over the complete share of the airport company. They also demanded a policy on promotions acceptable to all sections of employees, which should be implemented without any favouritism. The association also demanded change in the pattern of shift for airport employees. The ordinary employees were not getting any vehicle facilities after the shift during nighttime. This was posing difficulties for the women employees. They also demanded that an inquiry be conducted on the constitution of the director board and head of the new company formed for Maintenance Hangar in 2006.
