BANGALORE: To mark the golden jubilee celebrations, Cluny Convent High School, Jalahalli, conducted the "Swarnotsav Sports Meet" on Friday and Saturday. It was a memorable event for the students and staff as the nearby schools joined Cluny Convent to make the show a great one. On the first day, intra-school track and field events were held. The programme began with the colourful march past by the various houses of the school. The games captain took the oath on behalf of other students. Former international athlete Ashwini Nachappa declared the sports meet open. Children in colourful attire presented mass drills. The tiny tots enthusiastically participated in "Luminous 50," "Fruits of life" and "Disneyland" events. Ms. Nachappa exhorted the students to take part in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the all-round development. Minister for Health and Family Welfare R. Ashok was the chief guest. He appreciated the performance of the students. Corporator Francis Raja gave away the prizes to the winners. Headmistress Emilia welcomed and introduced the guests to the gathering. On the second day, inter-school athletic events were held. Ten nearby schools participated in the meet. The meet began with a prayer song. I.M. Spoorthi, the games captain of the host school, took the oath on behalf of all the other schools. The afternoon session began with the finals of all the track and field events. Cluny Convent emerged the overall champion. H. Kariyappa, senior Deputy General Manager of Bharat Electronics Limited, gave the prizes to the winners.
Investiture at Siddaganga
Siddaganga Public School, Chandra Layout, held its investiture ceremony recently. It marked the beginning of the co-curricular activities. Virupaksha. H.P., District Superintendent of Physical Education, Bangalore South, was the chief guest and he inducted the office-bearers. B.N. Channappa, secretary, and B. Siddalingaiah, treasurer of the school, pinned the badges to 12 members of the student council and class leaders respectively. The office-bearers took oath and promised to uphold the values and traditions set forth by the school and carry out their duties sincerely. They also pledged to serve the school and students. Principal Champaka Malini spoke on the co-curricular activities of the school.
