Medicine available for chikungunya

Bangalore: The Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Dhanvantri Road, has said that there are some medicines available in Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy systems for chikungunya and the people may contact the nearest AYUSH dispensaries/hospitals for getting the medicines.

According to AYUSH, symptoms of chikungunya are high fever, tiredness, joint pain and swelling, vomiting sensation and dysentery, reddish eye and difficulty to walk properly.

To prevent the disease from spreading, the department has requested the people to take precautionary measures such as: do not store water for more than five days in tanks and drums, maintain cleanliness, use boiled water for drinking and spread smoke from burning neem leaves around houses.
