Kural thanks Government

Special Correspondent

COIMBATORE: Kural, a people's organisation to voice the needs of Coimbatore, has commended the State Government for appreciating the efforts of Siruthuli, a citizens' initiative to conserve water resources.

In a statement released on Monday, the Chairman of Kural, B.K. Krishnanraj Vanavarayar, said the mention of Siruthuli in the budget as a model for water conservation was recognition for the movement.

This also reiterated the Government's stand of welcoming the active participation of civil society in developmental issues, he said.

Major initiatives

Mr. Vanavarayar thanked the Government for its major initiatives for the development of the Coimbatore region. While the setting up of a technical university here would serve as a boost to this educational hub, the market terminal for farmers in the city and the cold storage facility for onions at Palladam would aid agricultural development in this region, he said.
