According to the police, the accident took place around 8-15 a.m. when the bus coming from Shakarpur hit the motorcycle near a bus shelter on Vikas Marg. Aditya Chauhan and Shipra Singh, who were on the motorcycle, sustained serious head injuries. While passers-by called the police, the injured were rushed to JP Hospital where Aditya was declared dead on arrival. Shipra, a resident of Ganesh Nagar in East Delhi, succumbed to her injuries later. Her relatives said she was on her way to the University to attend classes when the accident took place. Enquiries revealed that Aditya worked with a company in neighbouring Ghaziabad. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Delhi) Neeraj Thakur said a case of rash and negligent driving causing death had been registered at the Indraprastha police station and the bus driver, Vijay, had been arrested.
