When the dog died, the owner held a `peda karma' and fed 150 poor people

VIZIANAGARAM: J. Adinarayana, a cloth merchant, was so attached to his dog that when it died, he organised `peda karma', the twelfth day obsequies, for it at his residence in Poolbaugh here on Tuesday.

The Pomeranian - Jhansi -- had lived with the family for 19 years. "Its death has left a void in my family. It was like a child to us," said a grief-stricken Adinarayana after garlanding Jhansi's life-size photographs with roses. A shamiana was pitched in front of the house for the function. About 150 poor people were fed biryani, chicken, eggs and sweets in the afternoon.
