Annual Credit Plan projected at Rs. 455 crore for Dharmapuri

Potential for lending under crop loans estimated at Rs. 208.68 crore: Collector

Dharmapuri: Collector M. Chandrasekaran on Monday launched an Annual Credit Plan (ACP) with an outlay of Rs. 455.93 crore for Dharmapuri district for 2006-07.

Priority sector

The Draft Annual Credit Plan outlay for Dharmapuri district had been projected for Rs.455.93 crore under priority sector and Rs.43.63 crore under non-priority sector. The potential had been arrived after consultation with entrepreneurs, Government and bank officials.

As per the ACP the potential for lending under crop loans had been estimated at Rs. 208.68 crore, Rs. 23.96 crore as term loans and for allied activities of agriculture. With agriculture being the predominant activity in the district it had got a lion's share of 69 per cent i.e. Rs. 314.60 crore for the benefit of 1,21,844 beneficiaries, Mr. Chandrasekaran said.

At the meeting, Assistant General Manager of Indian Bank, Dharmapuri Circle, G. Muthappan said for the development of non-farm sector/SSI units particularly for the growth of Agro-based forest based and service industries a sum of Rs. 43.93 crore (10 per cent of the total plan) had been allotted. Similarly an estimate of Rs. 97.40 crore had been allocated for activities such as retail trade, small business, professional and self employed, transport, housing loan, educational loan which had been classified under other priority sector.

Government schemes

Out of the total outlay, a sum of Rs. 131.23 crore (29 per cent of the total plan) was projected for the benefit of 21,848 beneficiaries under the Government-sponsored programmes such as SGSY, PMRY, TAHDCO, SJSRY and direct linkage of SHGs with banks.

Under non-priority sector banks in the district have planned to disburse Rs. 43.63 crore for the benefit of 14,427 beneficiaries.
