BIDAR: The State Government will draw a comprehensive plan to develop fisheries in Bidar. "The climate of the district is conducive for fisheries development. We will ensure that we exploit this potential to the maximum," Minister for Agriculture and district in-charge Bandeppa Kashempur said here on Tuesday. He said he had held a meeting with the Minister for Fisheries and other senior officials. "We will come up a concrete proposal within a month," he said. He instructed district officials to prepare a draft proposal within a fortnight. According to him, the plan would include increase in production, introduction of new, popular and fast-breeding fish, finding and expanding markets in Hyderabad, Gulbarga and other cities, easing transportation problems, and increasing lab to land extensions, he said. He said the Government would promote silk rearing in the district on a large scale. "We have a target of growing mulberry in at least 200 hectares this year," he added. The Minister said the Government would fill all vacancies in schools in border taluks.
