PONDICHERRY: The Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has filed a case against a senior official in the Town Planning Department. DVAC has filed cases under several sections of IPC against S. Sridarane, senior town planner, for forging and fabricating cash receipts for issuing building permits. V. Kaliyamurthy, inspector, DVAC, said the officer forged several receipt copies of application fee for installing towers by Bharat Cellular Limited. Though the officer was not competent enough to issue no-objection certificate, he tried to seek a deal and issue the certificate, the inspector said. Ever since the case surfaced, the officer was at large and a team had been formed to nab him.
