Rahul Dravid launches the `Magic Green Slim'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Slim and stylish seemed to apply both ways, for the product and the model.

Almost everything about the launch of Samsung's `Magic Green Slim' and wide format LCD monitors in Hyderabad was sleek, if not slick.

There could be no better brand ambassador than Rahul Dravid to endorse the new range.

A short screen presentation on the salient features was followed by a small talk each by Samsung's deputy managing director R. Zutshi and vice-president, IT, Sanjay Sharma. Then it was the Indian skipper's turn to hold centre stage.

"It's a pleasure to be in Hyderabad, which I've been visiting since I was a child," he said. Shifting gears swiftly, he said it was also good to see the brand's acceptance and popularity in the country. He said many good relationships had been established during the five years `The Wall' has been associated with the brand.

Samsung's bid to constantly innovate and its quest to get better, also came in for praise from the country's most consistent batsman. On the impending tri-series, he said the team hoped to give off its best.

Later in the evening, Dravid visited a multi-brand showroom, where he was felicitated and wished good luck for India's triumph in the World Cup. What was billed as an opportunity for the shop's customers to meet India's dependable batsman was hardly that, what with a cordon of cameramen, shop staff and security men surrounding the Indian skipper.
