Anantapur to host Subbiah Pillai Trophy

VIJAYAWADA: Anantapur District Cricket Association will host the South Zone inter-State one-day league tournament for the K.S. Subbiah Pillai Trophy 2006-07 from February 10 to 16, ADCA secretary Sagar Chowdary announced on Tuesday.

He said the tournament would be played at three venues — two at Rural Development Trust sports centre and the other at P.T.C. Grounds. Anantapur will host the Ranji Trophy match between AP and Karnataka from Dec. 1 to 4 at the RDT sports centre, he added.

He congratulated the district team for winning the U-22, U-19 and U-15 titles in the ACA South Zone inter-district tournaments.

Rain plays spoilsport

Rain played spoilsport as play was possible only after tea on the first day of the four-day selection match between Central Zone and Rest of Zones for the S.L. Narayana Rao Trophy in an ACA U-19 inter-zone fixture played at Siddhartha Medical College grounds on Tuesday. Batting first, Rest of Zones made 62 for two in 22 overs, when play was called off due to bad light. — Sports Reporter
