Anil Kumar triumphs
K.A. Anil Kumar's card of nine over 79 helped him clinch the Stroke Play Gross title in the Air Force Cup Open golf tournament, conducted by the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club, Mysore, at its course during the weekend.
The results: Stroke Play Gross (0-12): 1. K.A. Anil Kumar (79 gross); 2. V. Prakash (80 gross). Stroke Play Net (0-18): 1. M.A. Ramesh (64 net); 2. Dr. P.G. Karumbaiah (66 net). Stable Ford Net (0-18): 1. K.N. Suresh Kumar (40 pts-better back nine over Manohar); 2. M.C. S Manohar (40 pts). Stable Ford Net (Seniors, 0-20): 1. G. St. Patrick's posts win
St. Patrick's High School beat Baldwin Boys High School 4-1 in the Samuel Jayarajan Memorial trophy for seniors in the St. Germain Old Boys Association inter-school hockey tournament at Bangalore. In the Patrick Aranjo memorial tournament for juniors, St. Meera's High School beat Maria Niketan High School 4-0.
BEML, ISC fail to turn up
The State `B' division hockey tournament at Bangalore had an unscheduled off day on Tuesday with two teams playing truant. In the first match, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (Bangalore) was to play Accountant General's Office Recreation Club but the former failed to show up. In the second fixture, Ideal Sports Club (KGF) did not turn up against Sports Hostel (Kudige). The State Hockey Association will decide on the action against the teams shortly.
